Chuck Edwards, a GM retiree and lifelong Michigan resident will discuss the history of Copper Mining in the Keweenaw area of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. He will cover the mining era from it’s early history over 4,000 years ago to the early discoveries by French explorers in the 1600’s to the present. He will share his knowledge and insights into a nearly lost industry and this beautiful area known as Michigan’s Copper Country.
Chuck grew up in the Michigan UP, where he graduated from Michigan Technological University before moving to Saginaw where he worked in the Engineering and Quality departments at General Motors Saginaw Malleable Iron Plant. Chuck retired after 37 years and spends much of his time enjoying the UP.
